What does this postsecondary persistence dashboard show?
Each year, approximately – students remain in Nebraska public postsecondary institutions, maintaining an average –% postsecondary persistence rate. Generally, – females (–%) than males (–%) remain in a public postsecondary institution. Postsecondary persistence rates vary across public postsecondary institutions in the state. Over time, the statewide average postsecondary persistence rate remains constant.
Postsecondary persistence rates differ across racial groups. The average postsecondary persistence rate for White students is –%. However, the average postsecondary persistence rate for Asian students is –%, –% for Hispanic students, –% for more than one race, –% for American Indian/Alaska Native students, –% for Black students, and –% for Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander. This dashboard examines the fall-to-fall persistence for first-time, full-time, degree-seeking students at Nebraska public institutions. Persistence includes students who enrolled at any postsecondary institution the fall after their first year, or who graduated within the fall-to-fall period. The fall cohort includes students who started in the summer term.

A cohort is a group of individuals who share a common characteristic or characteristics. This dashboard groups students based on their expected postsecondary status and tracks them over time. This allows for data analysis throughout the students’ education and workforce journey. Data include students with expected academic year ending dates between – and –.
