Longitudinal Cohorts
A cohort is a group of individuals who share a common characteristic or characteristics. This dashboard groups students based on their expected graduation year and tracks them over time. This allows for data analysis throughout the students’ education and workforce journey. Students are expected to meet the requirements of graduation that are in place for their expected graduation year, which is set upon entry into ninth grade. For example, a student entering ninth grade during the 2019-2020 academic year would be expected to meet the graduation requirements for the class of 2023 (2022-2023) even if they dropped out or took more or less than four years to graduate. Data include students with expected graduation years between – and –.
